Key Points
- This tennis betting tip is from the final of the ATP Challenger in Geneva and the match between Malek Jaziri (134) from Tunisia and Mischa Zverev (280) from Germany.
- Zverev is a far better player than his ranking suggests. He's struggled with injuries this year but now appears to be getting back to his best. He was ranked as high as 45 just 2 years ago.
- He's left-handed and plays an attacking style of tennis with a lot of slice coming to the net whenever possible. He's at his best on indoor courts.
- He's now 24 years old so I think he has plenty of good years ahead of him at a much higher ranking.
- His quarter final win against crowd favourite Chiudinelli (196) was particularly impressive. The Swiss player has been ranked as high as 52 and seemed to be in great form this week.
- Then yesterday Zverev came through a tough 3 setter against the talented Berankis (114). This match only lasted 2 hours however so Zverev should be feeling fine coming into today's final.
- Jaziri is at his highest ever ranking but he's certainly not a star of the future. He's nearly 28 years old and has never won a title on the challenger circuit.
- He's struggled with injuries in recent weeks.
- This week's been good for him but he was lucky to come through against Klizan (89) in the 2nd round, where he was very close to losing. Klizan had to catch a plane to Sao Paulo where he's taking part in next week's ATP Challenger finals and I would speculate that he gave away the match against the Tunisian.
- He's the older player in today's final but doesn't have Zverev's experience of top level tennis.
- Last autumn Zverev got to the final in Metz where he lost to Gilles Simon. Just the experience of playing that sort of match will have done him a lot of good and he will know how to prepare himself mentally for today's match.
- He's won 4 challenger titles in the past and I'm confident he'll win another one today.
