Kei Nishikori - Ranking At The End Of 2017 Under 8.5

Tennis - Season Specials - 01 Nov 10:00

Kei Nishikori is an established player on tour and has been inside the top 8 for the past 3 years running finishing 2016 ranked 5.
The key is his consistency against the majority of the field. That is where he will gain most of the points he needs to make the top 8.
He won 82% of his matches priced under 3 last year. That is very impressive given he was only priced at over 3 against Djokovic (x6), Murray (x4) and Nadal (x1), three players who would all be considered amongst the best of all time.
In fact, 10 of his 11 matches were against the world number 1 or 2 and it’s clearly not particularly important for this bet if he can beat the top 2.
Given he is ranked 5 and the line is set at 8.5 it seems Ladbrokes are expecting a decline. I’m not sure why given he is 26 and increased on his 2015 end rank of 8.
I wouldn’t personally say Nishikori has improved, though he has certainly added more variation to his game. More importantly, as long as he doesn’t get an injury I don’t see his game getting worse.
I don’t think this line makes sense and the other bookies agree. Sky have it set at 5.5 odds 1.91 for both under and over. Unibet have gone for 6.5 but put under at odds 1.7 and over at 2.1.
Anything but another top 8 year would be a surprise and I’m very happy investing in one of the tour’s most consistent performers.
