Damir Dzumhur v Richard Gasquet

Tennis - ATP Montpellier - 09 Feb 14:30

Bookies seem to have priced this one on reputation rather than the stats. Well done to Krish for getting better odds. I'm happy with anything over 3.25 to be honest.

Dzumhur (#30) is actually above Gasquet (#33) in the rankings, not that I use that very often in my own prices, but it's worth pointing out.

In the past 12 months on the main tour Gasquet has won 62% (31-19) of his matches which is only fractionally better than Dzumhur at 61% (38-24).

On this surface Gasquet has a good record in his career winning 65% of his matches. But Dzumhur has been loving indoors recently and although the sample size is considerably smaller he's still won 68% (19-9) of his matches on this surface, so better than Gasquet.

In fact Dzumhur has won 12 of his last 13 matches indoors and landed the titles in both St.Petersberg and Moscow.

Gasquet hasn't been beyond this stage of a big event since Eastbourne last summer, that's 11 tournaments. He's lost his last 3 Quarter Finals on the ATP Tour.

He's not getting any younger and was on court for over 2 hours in his win against fellow countryman Herbert. Dzumhur will certainly make him move around the court a lot more.

Based on the stats this looks a no brainer. Gasquet does have a very good record in this event and the home support and I had him priced as the 1.61 favourite. Certainly not 1.33.
