Mark King Vs Stuart Carrington

Snooker - German Masters - 04 Feb 14:00

I'm going to be putting up plenty of tips during the coming weeks with the German Masters followed by China Open qualifiers, the Shoot-out and then the Welsh Open which I will be attending the first three days of. One bet I like the look of for the first round in Berlin is Stuart Carrington to beat Mark King.

First off, while the bookies in most places have priced this up like there is nothing to choose between the two I feel that perhaps Carrington may have been priced as favourite.
Stuart is one player that I see a huge amount of potential in as a player and he has started to show that in the last year. In qualifying for this event he overcame Ronnie O'Sullivan with breaks of 72 and 87 in that match.

Mark King is often very hit and miss, which I put down to his less than orthodox technique. He often does better in the European Tour events under shorter formats and doesn't always play too well after long periods between matches (this match being a month a half after his last). After getting to the semi-finals of the Paul Hunter Classic he had a month until the International qualifiers, where he lost 6-2 to Ian Burns who would have been a bigger outsider than Carrington is here.

Carrington himself is a solid player on the European Tour, making the quarter-finals of the Paul Hunter Classic before losing to eventual runner-up Shaun Murphy. He also qualified for the World Championships last April to make his Crucible debut, something that has helped his continued growth as a player.

Gut feeling always helps with me and this was one match that jumped out at me in the draw before any matches were priced, so a bit of kind pricing has certainly helped this decision to have a small punt here.
