Catalans Dragons Top Tryscorer Jodie Broughton

Rugby league - Super League - 29 Sep 19:45

New signing, full-back David Mead, heads the market at 7/4 and that's understandable given he's potentially world class. Catalans full-backs tend not be their highest scorers though.

In 2017 their top tryscorer was Richie Myler (half-back) tied with Vincent Duport (played centre and wing).

In 2016 their top tryscorer was Jodie Broughton (winger)(clear by 9 tries!).

In 2015 their top tryscorer was Zeb Taia (second row).

Catalans tend to exploit the space out wide and utilise the speed of their wingers, their full-backs get tries too but are rarely their top tryscorers, the stats back that up. New signing David Mead is there to be shot at and he looks like a false favourite.

A winger is the most likely top Catalans tryscorer in my opinion so their easy top tryscorer in 2016, Jodie Broughton, is the obvious one to be on and great value at 4/1.

If I remember rightly he was favourite for this market last season but had two long spells out injured and only played 7 games, although 2 tries in those 7 games is promising enough, especially in combination with what he did in 2016.

He's fully fit at present, has been handed the number 2 shirt so is first choice right winger and in the last warm up game he bagged a try from that position.

Personally I think his price should be similar to that of the 7/4 market leader, 4/1 is great value and it has a massive chance.
