F12016 - Hamilton Title, Over 8 Race Wins & No McLaren Podium

Other sports - F1 2016 Australian GP - 28 Nov 00:00

This is a request-a-bet special on SkyBet for the 2016 season - hope this type of bet is allowed to be tipped

You can find it at SkyBet > Formula 1 > Specials 'Request a Bet'

This is for Hamilton to win the F1 title, Hamilton to win Over 8 races and McLaren to not score a podium in 2016

So firstly, Hamilton to win the title:

Hamilton has won the last 2 world titles and is as short at 2/5 to win the title with some bookies

His main competition in this market will be team mate Rosberg and Vettel in the Ferrari

Rosberg is priced at 3/1 for the title and has been 2nd in the championship the last 2 seasons

But over the last 2 season, Hamilton has won 21 races to Rosbergs 11

Last season, Hamilton had won 10 races by the time he won the title after the USA Grand Prix - in the same time, Rosberg had won just 3 races

Vettel on the other hand (9/2 for the title) won just 3 races last year although i do expect him to do better this year

I cannot see Vettel and Ferrari improving enough though to claim the title, i can see 4 or 5 race wins this season but not the title

Now onto Hamilton winning more than 8 races:

Hamilton won the title in 2014 with 11 wins in a 19 race season

In 2015, Hamilton won 10 races in the first 16 of the season before finishing 2nd in the final 3 races

Hamilton had already won the title after that 16th race and admitted recently to putting his energy elsewhere from that point on

The 2016 season however will have an extra 2 races with Germany returning and Baku (European GP) making its debut on the calendar, more races means more opportunities for victories

As i said earlier, i can see Vettel winning 4 or 5 races, Rosberg perhaps 4 or 5 and Raikkonen perhaps 1. This would still leave 10 or 12 races for Hamilton to win which would easily cover this line

Now finally we have McLaren to score no podium in 2016 - a bet which is priced at 10/11

McLaren had a terrible 2015 after returning to Honda power and i don't expect a drastic improvement this season

Their reliability should be improved and race pace will improve too but not enough to catch teams who regularly score points and podiums

McLarens quickest time in pre-season testing was a 1:24.735 by Alonso on soft tyres which would make McLaren the 8th quickest team

So if there were regularly 7 quicker teams, that would give McLaren regular starts at 15th and 16th on the grid

Obviously different tracks suit different teams and McLaren will be hoping to start nearer the top 10 but thats what it is - hope rather than expectation

Its worth noting that McLaren were 20kmh slower on the straights though than the quickest Mercedes powered car - that kind of speed margin makes a huge difference when your doing 60-70 laps each grand prix

In short, it would take a large crash or multiple disqualifications for McLaren to score a podium

This is a season long bet but it adds value to Hamilton to win the title outright and is at odds of 2/1 with SkyBet
