Newcastle Jet Master

Horse racing - Newcastle - 17 Nov 14:50

Jet Master won this veterans chase last season so it's interesting to see him back for more, especially considering he's followed a similar path to get back here. Last season went like this for Jet Master: 1st over hurdles at Perth, 2nd over hurdles at Ayr, then 1st in this race. This season as follows: 1st in the exact same hurdle race at Perth, 6th over hurdles at Kelso, now onto this race.

Having followed a similar route to last year connections are clearly planning on winning this race again, at 11 years old and with probably not much more racing left in this horse I'd say that's a shrewd move. He's clearly in rude health still as he won that Perth race again first time out this season, no reason why he can go on to win this again now.

Last year he won this off a mark of 124 with Grant Cockburn taking off 3lb in the saddle, this time he's on a mark of 126 with Grant Cockburn again taking off 3lb. A 2lb higher mark shouldn't be an issue. I make him the one to beat so as the 4/1 second favourite he's good value.
