Newbury Wholestone

Horse racing - Newbury - 01 Dec 15:00

Just like for my first tip tomorrow we've got two horses heading the market here and setting a fair old standard, this time Thistlecrack and Unowhatimeanharry. I'm never afraid to take those types on and I'm happy to oppose them with Wholestone. This horse has gone close for us in both starts this season and is worth another chance here despite this being his toughest task this season.

He's trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies who saddled the runner up in this race last season, that one actually finished 2nd to Unowhatimeanharry. NTD said this race was a target for Wholestone which makes sense given he saddled the runner up in this last season. I'm expecting to see a 100% fit and fully wound up Wholestone here, in which case I don't see why he cant win.

Wholestone certainly has a touch of class, he won back to back Grade 2's last season and was an impressive 3rd in the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett at the festival. He's going to need a bit more here but hopefully if this was the target he can find that bit more. His two runs this season have both been good enough in my opinion. This race should actually suit better too.

With the market leaders taking such a huge chunk out of the market I just feel like Wholestone is being underestimated at 10/1. It will be tough to win but he's still more than worthy of a £5 bet.
