Cheltenham - Martin and Co Jewellers Intermediate Handicap Hurdle River Frost - Each Way

Horse racing - Cheltenham - 18 Nov 15:30

Early bet for Saturday. I think you'd be wise to take the 12/1 on offer about RIVER FROST in the 21 furlong handicap hurdle. Trained by Alan King this horse has done well since moving to the UK winning 3 of his 7 starts. He shaped really well at this track when 9th in last year's Coral Cup off 143. He should of finished a lot closer than he did, he absolutely flew up the hill but was just too far back to mount challenge. He finished with plenty of running, making me think he had a nice pot in him of such a mark. Take a look for yourself. He's the grey horse. Eyecatcher:

Amazingly he was dropped a pound for that effort. He made his return at Chepstow last month and he ran a solid race finishing 5th. The form of that race has worked out AMAZINGLY. The 6th, 7th and 8th (x2) have all subsequently won which offers hope that River Frost should be very competitive off an unchanged mark here. The 4th from that race is now 9lbs higher, the 6th is now rated 6lbs higher while the 8th won off 7lbs higher at Kempton today. Again River Frost been on the same mark looks very appealing on this evidence. He's racing over 2 furlongs further here which will play to his strengths and a dry forecast means we have the prospect of likely good ground again another plus for River Frost's chances.

Barry Geraghty will most likely partner him and he's 3/5 in completed starts. River Frost improved significantly for the run in 2016, and I suspect he will come on a bit for his recent run at Chepstow. Trainer Alan King said he was "just about ready to start" in that race so he could strip much fitter for that here.

12/1 on River Frost looks big here. It's his only entry unlike many of the others in here and I'm expecting him to be well tuned up for this by Alan King. So he's a horse possibly with a few pounds in hand who will love the ground and acted well around Cheltenham on his previous start. I'm liking his chances. He's as low as 8/1 in places so gobble up the 12s with Hills. I see these odds dropping significantly once the race cuts up (quite a few in this race with multiple entries).

I've gone each way given Hills are generously offering 1-2-3-4 (1/4) even at this early stage. Might seem a bit negative to some that I'm goimg each way but I think this should be a bet to nothing, at worst he should be placed but clearly he holds solid claims of winning. It seems the logical bet in my opinion.
