Howell/Warren vs Liang/Wu

Golf - Royal Trophy - 20 Dec 03:30

I am going for experience over home advantage here.

Yang admitted he deliberately kept the Chinese pairing of Liang Wen-chong and Wu Ashun until last to build up the anticipation among the home supporters. That is not a particularly good golfing reason!

Clearly the Chinese will have lots of support, but also the pressure of expectation that goes with that.

David Howell has had a resurgence in the past few years, playing some really good golf and showing why he was once ranked in the top 10 of the world rankings.

Howell has great team tournament experience: Howell was a member of the winning European Ryder Cup teams in 2004 and 2006. As a member of the Great Britain & Ireland team in the Seve Trophy he was on the losing side in 2000, but a winner in 2003.

Howell is also a great putter which is key in match play. He ranked 14th in total putts per round this year on tour and 11th in putts per girl

Warren has just come off his best ever year on Tour, in terms of race to dubai finishing position and money won.

He is a really strong ball striker, but does struggle a little down the stretch in the final round - Having Howell alongside him should settle his nerves.

Team Europe for me in these foursomes at 2.0 with Skybet.
