Key Points
- This tip comes from the English FA Cup game between Middlesbrough and Sunderland at the Riverside Stadium which kicks off tonight at 19.45 BST.
- Ok time for one of my long shot tips, its been a while since I have tipped at odds as long as this but I do feel this one has as good as chance as any.
- These two sides meet tonight and could not be much further apart when it comes to form.
- Lets start with Boro, they are without a win now in 5 games in all competitions.
- They have recently lost at home to Burnley 0-2, Coventry 3-1 and have been held to draws by Leicester and Crystal Palace.
- At the Riverside they are really struggling for goals at the moment managing just 4 in their last 7 games.
- This will not be helped tonight with the news that their top goal scorer Aussie Forward Scott McDonald misses this game through injury.
- Boro have not been the most entertaining side to watch this season, when they do win it is usually just by the odd goal but their performances overall have done enough to see them stay in the promotion chase and in the play off positions despite their recent run of poor form.
- This is the area that Boro will want to stay in, any Boro fan that says this FA Cup game tonight is more important then their aim of returning to the promised land of the Premier League is lying.
- Middlesbrough have some very important games coming up in the Championship starting with a trip to Ipswich next weekend, I am sure that game is where Boro's priority's will lay.
- Sunderland on the other hand are in great form.
- They have lost just 1 game out of their last 10 in all competitions and have won 7 of these!
- Martin O'Neil has the Black Cats playing some of their best football I have seen from them in a very long time and morale within the club will be at an all time season high right now.
- Away from home Sunderland have won 4 of their last 5 games and their only defeat came at Stamford Bridge in a 1-0 loss to Chelsea.
- Wins of 2-3 at QPR, 1-4 at Wigan, 0-2 away to Peterborough in the last round and most recently a 0-1 win at Stoke have all been very impressive results with 10 goals scored in those 4 games alone and more importantly for this bet they were all scored on the road!
- Unlike Boro, this FA Cup game will be one the visitors will really want to win, with no relegation worries at this current time a shot at the FA Cup will be very appealing to Sunderland and will be their only chance of a Wembley appearance this season.
- First of all I did like the Score Both Halves market which is priced at 3.5 only then I thought if Sunderland can score in both halves(Which they are more then capable of doing) then with Boro's poor goalscoring form, that could well be enough to win both halves and at massive odds of 6.5 I am willing to give this one a shot.
- Sunderland are proving to be one of the most popular bets of the day at around evens they are very well fancied to win this game so odds of 6.5 for them to go one step further and win both halves looks like heaps of value here, a 0-1 win in each halve would be enough and is also one of the most likely score lines here in my opinion.
