Slovenia v Scotland Over 3 2nd Half Cards

Worth noting that reds only count as 1 for this market. Scotland need to win this game to secure 2nd place in the group. Although they are 2 points ahead of Slovakia, they have Malta at home so you'd assume it would be a fairly comfortable 3 points for them, and should boost their already superior goal difference. I think its fair to say that this is Scotland's biggest game for some time. Slovenia still have an extremely outside chance of qualifying, although they would need to win here and hope Malta pull off something special in neighbouring Slovakia.

Slovenia's games have averaged 5.22 cards per game so far, with them averaging 2.75 cards per game and as we saw against England the other night, they are not afraid of putting in a tackle or two. 7/9 of their matches have seen 5 or more cards. Scotland's games have averaged 3.44 cards per game and they have only averaged a miserly 0.78 p/g, however this scenario is completely different and those stats are effectively irrelevant. They picked up 2 cards in the 2nd half v Slovakia, but to be honest, Slovakia did the hard work for them by going down to 10 men after just 24 mins.

So, why the 2nd half market? Well, I think this game will be relatively cagey in the early stages. Scotland will want to ensure they get settled and don't concede an early goal. Secondly, the referee for this game is Jonas Eriksson from Sweden. He is a very experienced referee and he fits the Scandinavian official mould by being pretty lenient on the whole. I think he will let a few things go early doors, and as things start to get edgy in the later stages, he will then have to take action. These sides are very evenly matched and therefore I don't see either side running away with it, meaning that time wasting etc becomes a very likely factor. Eriksson averages 4.58 card per game in 29 full internationals, and has shown 5 or more in 15/29.
