Honduras 30+ Booking Points v Australia

Football - World Cup Qualifiers - 10 Nov 22:00

1st leg of the inter-continental WC qualifying tie between Honduras and Australia. I’m expecting a pretty volatile atmosphere in one of the murder capitals of the world here, and, rather aptly, the word from the home camp is that they are looking to ‘kill off’ Australia here, and make full use of home advantage.

Honduras’ 10 games in qualifying averaged 4.4 per game, and there were 5+ in 5/10.

Honduras picked up 24 cards at an average of 2.4 p/g, and picked up 3 or more in 5/10.

Interestingly; the above all came in their last 5 qualifying matches. This shows that when it came to the business end of the quals, Honduras got really stuck in. With this being a one off tie, I expect this to be a feisty affair.

This is emphasised by Australia’s route here. They played 10 quals and then a home and away game v Syria to get here. These 12 games saw just 35 cards, yet 12 of these cards came across the knockout tie v Syria. Just shows how volatile these games can be.

The ref for this one is Daniele Orsato from Italy. He averages 4.67 cards per game in competitive internationals and has shown 4+ in 9/12 and 5+ in 5/12.
