Sunderland v Reading

Football - The Championship - 02 Dec 15:00

Pretty basic stuff. 19 league games without a win for Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Can Chris Coleman end that streak? I'm not so sure.

The fans make the players nervous and whilst they won 2-0 at Burton last weekend that's hardly a massive achievement given how Burton have struggled at home this season (lost 6 on the spin).

Sunderland are 0-4-5 at home in the league this season. They still have injury problems with Kone, Ndong, Watmore, Jones and Williams all missing. Vaughan who would have provided another attacking option for Coleman is suspended.

Reading are starting to look more like the side that came within a whisker of winning promotion to the Premier League last season. They've now gone 3-2-1 in their last 6 matches in the league including an impressive 4-2 win at Pride Park.

In midweek they beat Barnsley 3-0 and Stam actually said his players were disappointed as their performance wasn't good enough. Key players are starting to come back. Kermorgant led the line on Tuesday. Bodvarsson is also back giving more attacking options. Swift could also be available, I'm getting different reports about his fitness.

Given Sunderland's awful home record I make Reading the favourites for this match and the current odds look massive. As a result I'm going Max Stakes on this one.
