Millwall v Derby County

Football - The Championship - 30 Jan 19:45

The main concern about backing Derby tonight is that Millwall are very strong at home. But as good as their home record is, they’ve still accumulated less points at the New Den than Derby have on their travels.

It’s no major surprise. When at Birmingham, Gary Rowett always had a well organized side that picked up lots of points on their travels. Now he has better quality players at his disposal it’s no shock to see them battling for automatic promotion.

Derby are 6-2-0 in their last 8 away games in the Championship. That’s brilliant.

They’ve had 3-0 wins at Birmingham, Barnsley and Middlesbrough during that spell.

With no match at the weekend Derby have had 11 days to prepare for this match, Millwall drew 2-2 with Rochdale in the cup on Saturday. That has to be a big advantage.

Millwall have yet to beat a top 6 side this season. In fact they have failed to score in 5 of their 6 matches against opponents currently occupying the playoff positions. So you’d could expect Derby to keep a clean sheet tonight.

The home side are missing O’Brien whilst Shackell is listed as doubtful.

Derby are 19 points and 12 places clear of Millwall and come into this game fresher. I can’t see why they are not favourites. Double Stakes for me here.
