Championship Finish in The Top 6 Middlesbrough

Football - The Championship - 30 Apr 19:00

Boro still have the core of their 2015/16 promotion winning team at the club. The likes of Ayala, Friend, Clayton and Forshaw have benefited from a season of Premier League football and surely this will only stand them in good stead for the coming season. Darren Randolph is an upgrade on Brad Guzan in goal and should prove a solid figure, Cyrus Christie has been a good Championship player for a few seasons and joins an already strong defence. Garry Monk takes charge, last season he built a tough to beat Leeds outfit with a limited squad, getting the best out of young players. Keeping Ben Gibson may be unlikely but that could prove the best signing of the summer. Boro have brought in Johnny Howson who adds legs and willing running to a midfield who are already capable of controlling games. They have a huge variety of attacking options with Britt Assombalonga, Martin Braithwaite, Ashley Fletcher, Rudy Gestede and Patrick Bamford available. Assombalonga has troubles with injury but on his day can be unplayable at this level. I would happily back Boro at 8/1 EW for the title but the Evens on offer for a Top Six finish looks cracking value. Over the course of 46 games it is difficult not to see their strength in deep coming to the fore.
