Arsenal v Tottenham Shown A Card: Alexis Sanchez

Football - Premier League - 18 Nov 12:30

Backing an outsider here in the card market. No one looks 'value' in the stats, as the bookies seem to have the market fairly well priced. Eric Dier at 3 did interest me, but I think he will be a bit more reserved with his tackling now that he is playing a back 3, as opposed to CDM. The main reason I want to back Sanchez is due to his temperament, which can become all the more niggly in the bigger games.

Arsenal have played 3 of the top 6 so far this season, a 0-0 draw with Chelsea, a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool and a 3-1 defeat to Man City. If Arsenal are losing today, I have no doubt players like Sanchez will get the hump and start clipping people's heels etc. He works hard and does try his best to close down defenders and offer a defensive contribution. It's no surprise to see he averages 1.3 fouls per game over his entire career, which is impressive for a forward.

In 104 PL starts, he has picked up 13 cards. As I said, he isn't value from a stats point of view, but the situation of the game leads me to backing a player like him. He has picked up 1 card in 4 games v Spurs in his career, and that was for unsportsmanlike conduct. He could win this in a number of ways, whether it be diving, dissent, or a bad tackle - he is capable of all 3.

He is clearly not happy at Arsenal, with lots of speculation surrounding his future. This can be shown in the fact he has picked up 2 cards already this season in just 6 PL starts.

The ref for this one is Mike Dean, who we all know doesn't take any shit. He has shown 31 cards in 8 PL games this season, an average of almost 4 per game.
