PFA Player of the Year - Sergio Aguero

Football - PFA Player of the Year - 12 May 15:00

City are almost nailed on to win the title, with the best odds being 2/11. With that in mind, the PFA Player of the year is almost certainly going to go to a Man City player.

The candidates: Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus and David Silva.

De Bruyne (11/10) is already odds on to win the award with most bookies, which is crazy to me, he's had a good start to the season, but hasn't been involved in the most goals, not even close. He has 6 assists and 2 goals so far, so he's been involved in 8 goals, tied for 4th most with Jesus and Silva. He has been great so far, I'm not denying that, but he has not been that good to be worthy of such short odds, especially when 1 injury could take him out of the running entirely.

Sergio Aguero (20/1) is the leagues top scorer so far on 8, tied with Harry Kane, and has chipped in with 3 assists too. This contribution of 11 goals is the most of any City player so far, tied with Leroy Sane. Every pundit and every fan of the Premier League is shocked that Aguero has never made a PFA team of the season, and it's almost certain to change this season.

He's also broke Eric Brook's all time goal scoring record for City, which just adds to the reasons to give him the Player of the Year prize this season. Aguero has only played 8 games so far, so if he plays the rest of the games this season and keeps up his strike rate, he'll finish the season with 35 goals and 13 assists, smashing the all time Premier League record in a season (31).

Sterling (66/1), Sane (40/1) and Jesus (20/1) will all be a victim of rotation more so than KDB and Aguero in my opinion, and not only that, they are all eligible for the PFA Young Player of the year, so I expect them to be fighting it out over that award whilst leaving the main award to Aguero. David Silva (20/1) had a great start to the season, but has started to fall back to what you'd expect from him, with 6 assists in his first 6 games, before just 1 goal and 1 assist from his next 5. He will have a good season, but won't be in the running for an award.

I don't think anyone from any other team has a chance to steal the award away, Kane can score 30 and I still don't think he'll be in strong contention, he's been top scorer 2 seasons running and has been beaten to the award by players from the PL winning sides (Mahrez and Kante). Mo Salah (40/1) is the only other candidate in my eyes with the start he's had for Liverpool, but I don't see them even making top 4 so I'd be very surprised to see him take the prize.

I think Aguero is insane value here, so I'm going with max stakes.
