Monaco v Besiktas 50+ Booking Points

Football - Champions League - 17 Oct 19:45

Have to back my old friend Mazic here as he takes charge of Monaco v Besiktas in the CL tomorrow. This group is somewhat of a surprise so far, with Monaco finding themselves bottom with just 1 point after 2 games, whereas Besiktas have won 2/2. Monaco were well beaten by Porto 0-3 at home last time out, and they need a result here to give themselves any chance of finishing in the top 2, with trips to Turkey and Portugal still to come. I think this is the most evenly matched group in that anyone can beat anyone, with the other team Leipzig more than capable of beating any of the other 3 teams.

Despite their defeat to Porto last time out, Monaco are unbeaten in 12 of their last 15 home games in Europe, and although they lost 3-2 to Lyon at the weekend, they are still 2nd in Ligue 1 with 6 wins from 9 games. Besiktas are some way off the pace domestically, in 6th place and 8 points behind leaders Galatasaray.

Monaco's 2 games have both gone over this mark so far, with 7 and 5 cards. Monaco picked up 3 in both games, and will do everything in their power to get a result in this one. I like to back Besiktas game where possible for cards, however there have only been 4 and 3 cards in their games, with the Turks accounting for 2 and 1 of these. However, they haven't had the most favourable of referee appointments so far in Anthony Taylor and Sergey Karasev, with the latter being at the fairly lenient end of the European spectrum, and I don't hold many English refs in high regards (except Mr Dean of course).

This should be a close game, and that's always good, but the ref appointment holds the key here. Milorad Mazic from Serbia gets the whistle and he averages 5.87 cards per game across 54 European games. He has shown 5 or more in 39/54 - a strike rate of 72.22% and implied odds of 1.38. Makes this an easy max stakes bet. I don't expect this price to be available tomorrow but WH go 2.00 for O45, which is fine and 888sport at 1.98 atm. Bet365 are 1.75 for O4 if you want a cautious approach - feel free to split the stake if you wish but hopefully it shouldn't be an issue with Mazic in charge.
