Atletico Madrid 30+ Booking Points v Roma

Football - Champions League - 22 Nov 19:45

Bit of a punt; Atletico need to win this game to keep their slim hopes of qualifying alive. A draw will do Roma nicely, and they also know they face Qarabag at home in the final round of games, so should be ok even if they lose in Spain. Roma are on a terrific 7 game winning streak, whereas Atletico are unbeaten in 9 but have only won 2 of these!

Draw have been the problem, 4 of their last 8 games have been 1-1, and although they don't concede many, they haven't scored 2 or more since September. Roma show that they play their football away from home, and have put 6 past Chelsea in 2 games. This should be a good game, with Atleti know they need to be attacking, whereas Roma will hit on the break.

Atletico have only covered this line once in their 4 games, but have picked up 4 and 2 cards in their two home games so far. As I said above, they have to go for the win tonight and that will leave them open to the counter. Godin, Juanfran and Gabi make up the core of the defensively minded players, all of whom are at the back end of their careers and haven't got the pace to get them out of trouble in the event of a counter.

If this goes the other way, and Atletico are going into the final 15mins staring defeat in the face, they may lose their heads. They played Real at the weekend and picked up 6 cards in a 0-0 draw, with some pretty tough tackling.

The ref for this game is Bjorn Kuipers (he's in the last chance saloon!). He has shown an average of 4.67 cards per game across 63 European fixtures, and has shown 5 or more in 30/63.
