Peter Wright v Gerwyn Price

Darts - Premier League - 01 Feb 22:00

Peter Wright has a dominant head to head record over Gerwyn Price. Won nine of the ten meeting’s with the defeat coming in a Players Championship final event which is played in silence with no spectators watching bar the player’s guests.

Wright has comfortable won all three major meetings being 3-0 at the World Championship in December 2014, 16-7 at the 2015 World Matchplay and 11-6 in last year’s UK Open final.

Wright lost in the quarter-finals at the Masters to Raymond van Barneveld who was in great form especially in the opening session where he was averaging near 110. Wright averaged 97.76 and 98.85. Those averages are decent Wright’s doubling was poor in both games checking out at 37 and 20% in his matches. Wright will have worked on that in the lead up to this game.

Price had a great chance to knock out Gary Anderson at the Masters on Sunday but faltered his way to a 92.63 average. This is Price’s debut and is tipped to be fighting elimination all the way thorugh the opening nine week.

I feel Wright’s consistency will prove to be too much in this contest.
