James Wade most 180s vs Wes Newton

Darts - PDC World Championship - 27 Dec 20:15

James Wade's scoring has really come on in recent months, with many putting this down to his partnership with Eric Bristow as a coach. Bristow has coaxed a renewed focus out of Wade, and it's really starting to pay off.

Wade has always been a specialist in 2 and 3 dart combinations, and has needed the scoring element in his game to be sharpened. That's where the major work seems to have gone in.

Wes Newton just stinks at the moment, and can be opposed in pretty much any matchup from here on in. His average of 77.8 in the first round was breathtakingly poor, and he's very fortunate to have stumbled past Cristo Reyes. Over the slightly longer format, I expect his head to drop after a couple of sets, and wouldn't be surprised to see a whitewash.

In the first round, Wade hit 3 180s to Newton's 1, and in 3 fewer legs of darts.

Wade also banged in 10 140s to Newton's 4, meaning he has far more chance to convert. It wasn't that Newton was switching down the board - he has 0 170-177s under his belt - it was that his scoring has totally deserted him.

This one's worth double stakes for me,
