Mensur Suljovic v Simon Whitlock

Darts - PDC Premier League - 01 Feb 19:10

Simon Whitlock is probably lucky to have got a PL spot in the end. He looked a lock following his WGP final (where he benefitted from a favourable draw) however he followed that up with early exits from Word Series finals, GSOD, Players Championships and the Worlds. Getting the place should have given him a boost in confidence however that wasn’t overly evident in his first round defeat to James Wade at the Masters.

When you are struggling to get over the line a tricky opponent like Suljovic is the last thing you need. Suljovic is new to the PL however I don’t think it will phase him and after a fairly disappointing run of his own after winning the Champions League he appeared back to somewhere near his best at the Masters with rock solid wins against Smith and Cross averaging 99.89 and 101.40. He was disappointing in the semi final against Barney but I can forgive him that as mentally it would have been tough to get back up for that having beaten the World Champ in the afternoon.

I am confident we will see Mensur with a solid 96+ average and if he does that it should be more than good enough to dispose of Whitlock in his current form.
