Daryl Gurney v Raymond van Barneveld

Darts - PDC Premier League - 01 Feb 20:40

Barneveld was very impressive at the Masters and pushed MVG in the final before a typical MVG surge got him over the line. Prior to that he had averaged 100+ in defeating Chisnall and Wright before a scrappy win over Suljovic in the semi. All in all RVB seems to be in great form and in a good place mentally.

The Masters followed on a strong showing at the Worlds where again it took MVG to stop him. His consistency with his scoring has been as good as it has been for years and his finishing has been rock solid too.

Gurney on the other hand has tailed off a bit in recent months after a break our year in 2017 culminating in winning the WGP. Since the his form has been patchy and he comes in to this off a defeat to Gerwyn Price at the Masters.

It’s the opening night of the PL and Gurney is at “home” so is bound to be very nervous. RVB however has seen it all before and he looks fired up to have a real run in the PL this year. I think he should be no bigger than 11/10 but there is some 11/8 still out there although I suspect it won’t last much longer.
