Daryl Gurney v James Wade

Darts - Grand Slam of Darts - 16 Nov 19:15

James Wade has had a poor season but he's still a quality player and the interview below with Sky Sports tells you why he's been struggling.

It also reveals that Wade appears to have his enthusiasm back and has been practicing hard over the past 4 weeks at what is an important time of year for the big players with the World Championship approaching.

Wade has a really good record here in the Grand Slam, twice a finalist including 12 months ago. In the interview he described the Civic Hall as like "playing in your front room" so it's clearly a venue he feels comfortable at.

Gurney has been playing some fine darts this year including winning his first major title at the Grand Prix. But is he really a 1.44 shot here? Just the other week in the European Championship he played awful to lose 11-3 to Rob Cross in the Semi Final.

Wade leads the head to head 3-2 and beat Gurney 10-7 over the same format when the two met in the Quarter Finals in Auckland. Wade produced some excellent darts in the last few legs against Taylor to book his spot in this round and I wouldn't be surprised if he gives Gurney a run for his money here. He certainly looks the value pick to me.
