Rangana Herath top Sri Lanka bowler vs Bangladesh

Cricket - Test match - 08 Feb 03:30

Sorry for the late tip, been snowed under at work.

Herath at 2/1 to be top Sri Lanka bowler looks very generous here. Elsewhere he's 13/8, 5/4, 31/20, 13/8 and 6/4.

In Asia he averages 3 wickets in the 1st innings. Against Bangladesh it's 2.67.

He's improved as time has gone on, at the start of his career he was in Murali's shadow where as now he's the main man. He may be nearly 40 but he's wily, he uses changes of pace and angles to get wickets even on flat tracks. In the past it's turned big here, but the theory is that they prepare raging turners against non-Asian sides and absolute roads against fellow sub-continent sides. Either way, he has the skills to take wickets.

In recent tests in Asia in the last year he has played 10 tests (1 on a real seamer in India) and he has 29 1st innings wickets, 7/10 he's taken 3+ wickets.

His main rival on these tracks will be Perera. He has 48 1st innings wickets from his 24 tests in Asia. In th last year he's played 12 tests in Asia, taking just 16 1st innings wickets. lakmal is an honest seamer, but these dead tracks make it hard work for him. Sandkan isn't very consistent and can often leak runs, Herath should bowl a lot more overs than him.

I think something around 6/4 is correct here, 2's looks too big and worthy of double stakes.
