Trans Tasman T20I Tri-series - Australia & New Zealand to make the final

Cricket - T20 Tri-series - 10 Feb 08:20

Only just clicked today that England have to play the "hosts" in all of their games here. They play Australia twice in Oz (already played and lost one) and then travel to NZ and play them twice.

Australia have already hosted NZ and will travel to play them in NZ also, so Australia have 3 home games, NZ 3 and England 0.

The teams looks fairly evenly matched, so that is quite a handicap to overcome.

Australia are 1/33 to make the final, New Zealand and England are a flip to join them so 23/20 looks too big a price.

Australia are 2/2, so they are in the box seat. A home win on Sat would secure their spot (8/13 favs).

New Zealand obviously have questions to answer after a poor showing last time out, but they are the Number 1 ranked T20I side in the world and have some real match-winners with both bat and ball.

Munro is ranked 4 and Guptill 11 in the batsman rankings, whilst Santner and Sodhi are 1st and 3rd in the bowler rankings. That's before we get to Williamson, Boult and Southee!

They've returned home now in preparation of their 3 home games, and have already been pro-active after their defeat to Australia by drafting in 2 new middle order dashers.

England have to face a rampant Australia at the MCG on Saturday and have issues of their own. Their batting depth has been the hallmark of their strong white-ball form, but they had Willey coming in 7 last time out and they looked a bit light. They also only had 5 bowling options, they're missing the all-round skills of Stokes and Moeen.

I believe New Zealand have been under-estimated here, especially with 3 home games to come. Double stakes.
