Warriors - Top Batsman Smuts v Knights

Cricket - CSA T20 - 10 Nov 15:30

Smuts is my other pick, with Ingram. Sometimes the presence of 2 top players means they can both be value, the other one "holds the price up" when they should both be shorter in reality. The most recent example I would use would be Gayle and Lewis for St Kitts in the CPL, they were close to evens combined despite consistently winning the market.

Smuts is a strong T20 player, he looks to take advantage of the power play and is a pretty uncomplicated player. A T20 average approaching 30 shows he's a quality player, and opening up he'll have the maximum possible time at the crease.

Last year he made 371 runs in this comp, averaging over 40. That strong form got him an international call-up and he'll be looking for similar again this year.

Given the advantage an opener has in the shortest format, he looks fair value on his own at 3/1 (11/4 generally). Standard stake.
