Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Sixers - Roy vs Short/McDermott

Cricket - Big Bash - 08 Jan 07:10

I understand Roy has struggled for runs, but 3/1 to outscore 2 other players seems a bit OTT.

Roy has only scored 53 runs in 5 knocks, but in general his T20 record is very good. If he gets off to a flier in the powerplay he can get to 30 in no time. He's an experienced international opener, and it will only be a matter of time before he gets in the runs.

Short has been on top form, but he had a habit last year of blowing very hot and cold. He's still only played 13 T20 games, so he's still inexperienced and due to his current form the Sixers will have spent a lot of time researching how to combat him.

McDermott has looked ok so far, but basically he's still just played 1 substantial innings in T20 cricket ever (114 against the Renegades last year). Other than that he has 185 runs in 10 knocks, so that could have been a bit of a one-off. Like Short he's inexperienced.

The Hurricances have a better attack than the Sixers, so that's another challenge for Roy but he has faced the 2 English seamers before so that's an advantage for him. At the start of the tournament Roy would have been a pretty heavy favourite in this trio, now he's a massive outsider. I think they've gone too far based on the form of a few games. In a similar matchbet with Unibet against Short and Maddinson, Roy is only 19/10. Standard stake.
