Australia V England

Cricket - 2nd Test - 02 Dec 03:30

The first test in Brisbane saw the end result being what looked on a paper a stroll in the park with a 10 wicket victory for the hosts. The first 3 days of the test though were very evenly contested and England had good chances to get on top of Australia in their first innings at 130-1 and 250-4 which they didn't capitalize on to finish with a score of 300, with the ball they had an even better spot in reply to 300, Australia were 200-7 and if England could have put together 15-20 minutes good cricket to wrap the innings up for 220-225 it could have been a very different outcome.

Instead a quite brilliant 140 from Steve Smith took them to first innings parity but swung the momentum and psychological edge Australia's way.

The 2nd test is under lights at Adelaide in what is likely to be English style conditions - its worth noting that Australia hasn't won a series in England for over 16 years. Australia at home are understandably favorites but England are a value bet in bowler friendly conditions where an inspired hour or so by any player on either side could swing this game on its head.
